Pioneers Trample Over Hilbert 57-12 to Improve to 2-0

Alfred, N.Y. – The Alfred State football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a dominant 57-12 victory over Hilbert on Saturday afternoon. Behind an explosive offense and a disruptive defensive effort, the Pioneers secured their second consecutive convincing win to open the year.

After a record-setting performance in their season opener against Thiel, Alfred State picked up right where it left off. Leading the way was Noah Currier, who rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries, averaging 17.8 yards per attempt. His longest run of the day covered 96 yards and highlighted the big-play ability that fueled the Pioneer offense. Currier also contributed through the air, catching three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown to finish with three total scores. Quarterback Chase Shepanski was highly efficient, completing all six of his pass attempts for 149 yards and three touchdowns. Elijah Georges provided one of the game's biggest moments with a 62-yard touchdown reception on his only catch, while Jordan Jackson added a 35-yard touchdown reception. B. Blecha also found the end zone with a 17-yard scoring catch.

The Alfred State defense was equally impressive, limiting Hilbert's opportunities throughout the contest. Zackery Hornquist led the Pioneers with 13 total tackles, including five solo stops. Marcus Roney added 10 tackles and three tackles for loss while consistently disrupting plays in the backfield. Donnell Hall finished with five tackles, and William Slavinski, M. Martin, and Jarod Freeman each recorded five tackles. J. Santiago added four tackles and two tackles for loss as the Pioneer defense repeatedly created pressure and controlled the line of scrimmage.

The victory continued an impressive start to the season for Alfred State, which has outscored its opponents 113-20 through the first two weeks. Alfred State returns to action next Saturday when they travels to Buffalo State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
