Men's Soccer Drops Hard-Fought 3-2 Decision at Allegheny

Meadville, PA – The Alfred State men's soccer team suffered a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Allegheny on Saturday. The Pioneers move to 0-2-2 on the season.

Josh Lewandusky led the Pioneers with two goals, while Wyatt Evingham added an assist. Lukas Bandurski made nine saves in goal for Alfred State.

Allegheny struck first just 2:50 into the match, taking an early 1-0 lead. Alfred State responded in the 25th minute when Lewandusky converted a penalty kick to even the score at 1-1.

The Gators regained the lead in the 36th minute, converting another penalty kick to take a 2-1 advantage into halftime.

Alfred State came out hungry to tie it up in the second half, earning five corner kicks and continuing to pressure the Allegheny defense. The Gators extended their lead to 3-1 in the 66th minute with their second goal on the day.

The Pioneers quickly answered as Lewandusky found the back of the net again in the 68th minute, this time off an assist from Evingham, cutting the deficit to 3-2.

Alfred State continued to battle for the equalizer throughout the final minutes, earning three corner kicks and putting a shot on goal from Lucas Jorgenson in the 85th minute. Allegheny's goalkeeper made the save and helped the Gators hold on for a 3-2 victory.

The Pioneers return back home on Wednesday, September 16th as they host SUNY Geneseo. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
