Keuka Park, N.Y. – The Alfred State men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Keuka College on Thursday. The Pioneers are now 0-1-2 on the season.
Colin Martin scored the lone goal for Alfred State, while
Joevany Alvarez recorded an assist.
Lukas Bandurski played in goal all 90 minutes.
After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers continued to pressure Keuka's defense early in the second half. Alfred State finished the match with a 12-4 advantage in shots and held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Keuka broke the scoreless match in the 58th minute with a free kick from 23 yards out to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.
Alfred State continued to create opportunities, with
Wyatt Evingham and
Tommy Dimaggio each recording shots on goal in the second half. The Pioneers determination paid off in the final minute when Alvarez delivered a ball into the box, where Martin finished from six yards out, placing his shot just beneath the crossbar to even the match at 1-1 in the 89th minute.
Neither team was able to find a winner in the closing moments, and the match ended in a draw.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, September 12
th, when they travel to Allegheny College to face the Gators. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM.
