Ithaca, NY – The Alfred State baseball team suffered a loss to Ithaca College, 12-2, on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers move to 13-23 on the season.
At the plate,
Matty Eygabroad and
Zach Young both went 1-4 and recorded an RBI, while
Zach Miner suffered the loss on the mound.
Ithaca got on the board first in the second inning, using a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead. The Bombers extended the lead in the fifth inning, scoring five runs. Ithaca added four more runs in the sixth inning, pushing the lead to 10-0.
The Pioneers got on the board in the seventh inning as they scored two runs.
Joshua Gardner led off with a walk, followed by a walk from
Anthony Snyder. Eygabroad delivered an RBI single to score Gardner, and Young followed with an RBI single to bring home Snyder, cutting the deficit to 10-2.
The Bombers added to their lead in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win 12-2.
The Pioneers return home to take on Penn State Altoona for a doubleheader on Friday, April 24. First pitch is set for 1 PM.
