Alfred State Dropped Two Games Against PS Behrend

Bolivar, NY – The Alfred State baseball team dropped two games against Penn State Behrend, game one 7-0, and game two 5-4. The Pioneers drop to 12-22 on the season and 6–6 in conference play.

Game Two 5-4

In game two, Sean Connor led the way as he went 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Jordan Hughes and Frank Grad both went 2-4 with an RBI each. Dominic Morsch came in relief and suffered the loss on the mound.

After two scoreless innings, the Pioneers struck first in the third inning as they scored four runs. Matty Eygabroad reached on an error to lead it off. Zach Young followed with an RBI single up the middle to give the Pios the 1-0 lead. Grad then tallied a single towards the pitcher, before Hughes put in an RBI single down the right field line. Then, an RBI double from Connor made in an 3-0 lead. Two batters later, Christian Morrison notched an RBI single for the 4-0 lead.

The Lions was able to hold the Pioneers offense off from there and score three runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to take the lead and win the game 5-4.

Game one 7-0

In game one, Hughes suffered the loss on the mound after pitching 5.0 innings and tallying five strikeouts. James Camacho and Connor tallied a hit each in the game.

The Lions struck first as they scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings and one in the sixth and they held off the Pioneers and took the win.

The Pioneers will look to rebound tomorrow as they travel to PS Behrend tomorrow for game three.
