Fort Myers, FL- The Alfred State Softball team grabbed another nail-biter win on day two, against SUNY Cobleskill. The Pioneers clinched one out of their two games today, heading into day three with a 2-2 record.

Game 1:

Hannah Powers threw all six innings in the circle for the Pios, recording five strikeouts. At the plate,
Abbie Millard went 2-2 with a stolen base and
Nicole Youngberg had another great day going 2-3.
Liana Dion went 1-3 with two RBI on the game.

Drew would score six runs in the first three innings, holding off the Pioneers from getting to home plate. In the fourth inning, ASC was able to plate two runs as Dion singled through the left side, scoring Millard and Youngberg. The Rangers would then tack on an additional three runs to close out the game 9-2.

Game 2:

Sydney Howard started the game for Alfred, pitching 4 innings and recording two strikeouts.
Marissa Ordway would come in to also notch two strikeouts and grab the win on the mound.

The Pioneers dominated at the plate in game two, where Dion and
Ariel Maine both went 3-4, both with two RBI, Dion with a double. Millard recorded 2-3 at bat with two doubles and three RBI.

ASC started the game off with five runs in the first inning, ignited by Millard as she doubled scoring two. Dion would then drive in Youngberg off a single and a few plays later Dion scored on an error.
Jordyn Colvin would later single through the left side to score Maine. Cobleskill grabbed two runs in the second to set the score at 5-2. The Pioneers snagged a three more runs from Maine, Colvin and Millard hits, 8-2. The Tigers managed to tie the game up in the top of the seventh to which the Pios responded effectively as Maine drove in Youngberg in the bottom of the inning to close out the game 9-8.

Alfred State hits the field again tomorrow to face RIT at 9 am and Rockford at 11 am.
