Fort Myers, FL- The Alfred State Softball team dropped both of their day three games against RIT and Rockford today, 8-4 and 5-1 respectively. The Pioneers are now 2-4 with six games remaining in Florida.

Game 1:

Marissa Ordway saw a start in the circle for the Pios, where she recorded three strikeouts. Ordway would take the loss on mound in game one. At the plate,
Kate Gemza went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
Madigan Harris also went 2-3 and
Abbie Millard going 1-4 with a double as well.

ASC jumped first as they slated three runs in the second inning.
Jordyn Colvin recorded a sac fly to center to score
Ariel Maine followed by Gemza squeeze to score
Liana Dion. Harris would then score on a throw down to second, 3-0. RIT would take control up to the sixth inning, as they were able to notch eight runs, putting them in the lead 8-3. The Pioneers were only able to grab one more run as Gemza doubled to left but it was not enough as the Tigers closed out the game 8-4.

Hannah Powers threw for game two and is taking home her second loss of the season.
Nicole Youngberg led the way at the plate going 2-2 with a double and one RBI. Maine would also go 2-3 in game two.

In a tight match-up, the Pioneers grabbed their lone run of the game in the first inning where Youngberg would double down the right field line to score Millard. Behind solid pitching from Powers and strong defense, Rockford was able to snag a few runs in the first, second and fourth innings. Alfred State was unable to make the comeback they were looking for as the Regents came away with the win, 5-1.

The Pios will return to the field on Thursday to take on Elms College at 9 am and Crown College at 11 am. Â
