Potsdam, NY- The Alfred State men's lacrosse team took a tough loss on the road to SUNY Potsdam, 20-3. The Pioneers drop to 0-4 on the season. 
 
Joseph Tiberio notched his first goal of the season on four shots. Matthew Bridges continued his strong start, scoring his eighth goal of the year and finding the back of the net in every game so far for Alfred State. Mike Coburn also added his second goal of the season, while Brendon O'Donnell recorded two assists. In goal, Matthew Burris turned aside 22 shots on 42 attempts.
 
Potsdam jumped out to an early lead, scoring three times in the opening quarter and carrying that momentum into the second to take control of the game heading into halftime, 13-0.
 
Despite the deficit, the Pioneers continued to compete and found opportunities in the second half. Alfred State broke through in the third quarter when Joseph Tiberio capitalized on a man-up opportunity off a feed from Brendon O'Donnell to get the Pioneers on the board. Late in the fourth, Mike Coburn added an unassisted goal, and Matthew Bridges connected with O'Donnell for Alfred State's third tally of the afternoon. Despite the late offensive burst, the Bears were able to take the contest 20-3. 
 
The Pioneers will continue to look for their first win of the season as they host MCLA at Pioneer Stadium on Saturday, March 7^th for a 11am start.
