Fort Myers, FL- The Alfred State Softball team closed out their week at the Gene Cusic Classic with two losses against Westfield State, 15-0 and Geneva College, 8-0. The Pioneers head back to NY with a 5-7 record.

Game 1:

Hannah Powers started on the mound for the Pios, taking the loss.
Sophia Petrie came in after the first inning as a relief as she notched four strikeouts for the Pioneers.

ASC was unable to record any hits during game one, as the Owls controlled the tempo and slated 15 runs in five innings, 15-0.

Game 2:
Â
Petrie stayed in the circle heading into game two, recording three additional strikeouts but taking the loss.
Sydney Howard would come in for the final inning to relieve her.

Abbie Millard and
Liana Dion were the only two Pios that were able to tally hits in game two, both going 1-2 at the plate. Millard would knock a double out to left field, but ASC was unable to score her. Geneva tacked on eight runs throughout five innings to close out the game, 8-0.

The Pioneers head back home and will hit the field on March 26
th against Alfred University, time still to be determined.
