Williamsport, PA- The Alfred State men's wrestling team finished third out of five teams at the AMCC Individual Championship. Two Pioneers took home AMCC titles.
Aaron Johnson took home the 285 title after going 2-0 on the day with two falls. Johnson was also named the AMCC Most Outstanding Wrestler. After a first-round bye, Johnson tallied a 1:43 fall over Matthew Caldwell (PSUB) for a spot in the first-place match. In the championship bout, he tallied a 4:17 fall after being down 4-1 heading into the second-round.
Sean Malenfant secured the 184 title after going 3-0 on the day. Malenfant opened with a 2:31 fall over Jason Petroski (PCT). Then in the semi-final match, he tallied a 23-5 tech fall over Ryan Gildersleeve (PSUB) for a spot in the championship match. In the Championship match, Malenfant tallied a 1:55fall over Louie DeJulia (PSUB) to take the 184 title.
Mason Drew finished second in the 125 bracket. He opened the day with a 15-0 tech fall over Cade Stern (UPB). He followed with a 4:15 fall over Zach Dellinger (PSUB) for a spot in the first-place match. Drew would suffer a loss in the championship bout to take second.
