Alfred State Blanks SUNY Delhi 2-0 in SUNYAC Road Victory

Delhi, NY – The Alfred State women's soccer team scored a pair of first-half goals and never looked back, earning a 2-0 victory over SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers advance to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-2 against SUNYAC foes.

The Pioneers needed just over three minutes to get on the board as Isabella Hoffmann finished a setup from Regan Curabba to give Alfred State an early 1-0 lead.

Alfred State doubled its advantage in the 15th minute when Kaitlyn Howell converted a scoring opportunity created by Laurel Yard. The goal proved to be more than enough for the Pioneers, who controlled play throughout the match.

The Pioneers dominated offensively, outshooting the Broncos 18-5 and holding an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal. Hoffmann paced the attack with seven shots, including four on target, while Curabba added six shots and an assist. Howell finished with a goal, and Yard contributed an assist.

Defensively, Alfred State was outstanding as the back line prevented SUNY Delhi from generating a shot on goal. Madeline Cox played all 90 minutes to earn the shutout, helping the Pioneers secure their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Alfred State will return home on Wednesday October 14th for a match against Buffalo State. Kickoff for that match will be at 6 pm.
