Alfred, NY – The Alfred State men's basketball team suffered a 68-45 loss to the Penn State Behrend Lions. Alfred falls to 5-14 overall and 3-7 in the AMCC.

Darius Cunningham Jr. led the way on offense, putting up 11 points each. Cunningham recorded two steals as well.
Kicking off the early action, both teams started off hot as they traded baskets consistently. The Pioneers were shooting well from deep, with
Mykell Lawson and Cunningham hitting back-to-back threes to spark the offense. As time kept ticking, the Lions were able to put themselves in front with a string of baskets, 20-10. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Cunningham closed off an 8-1 run with a layup to regain Alfred's footing, 21-19. The Pioneers entered the break trailing by just one possession, 28-25.
Early in the final half of play, the Lions came out the gate strong, garnering a 35-29 lead. The Pioneers fought to shorten the gap but Behrend proved to be too much as they slowly pulled away to win the game 68-45.
Alfred will head to Pittsburgh, PA for their matchup against the Carlow Celtics. Tipoff is on Saturday, January 31
st at 5:30pm.
