Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Basketball team took down the visiting Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats with a final score of 81-50. The Pioneers Move to 11-7 on the season and 6-3 in conference play.
Taylor Benjamin led the Pios offense with 22 points along with two rebounds while going 4-9 beyond the three-point arc.
Emeline Barton followed with 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Mallory Sprissler dominated the glass with 12 rebounds to go along with four points.
Alfred State jumped out to a commanding lead in the first quarter starting with a 6-0 run capped with a
Jordan Niles layup. ASC finished the first quarter building their lead to 24-6 as Niles capped off the quarter with another layup. The Pioneers picked up where they left off with a 7-0 run to start the second quarter. Benjamin was able to hit back-to-back three pointers with 5:23 to go in the half to keep the Pioneers offensive momentum going. At the half the Pios led 44-18.
Alfred State was able to continue their dominance on both sides of the court in the second half as ASC pulled away with the victory, 81-50.
The Pioneers hit the road next to take on Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, January 28
th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.
