Bradford, PA- The Alfred State women's basketball team grabbed a road win tonight against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers, 70-50. With this win, the team sits with a 8-7 overall record, 3-3 in conference foes.
 
Taylor Benjamin led the way on both ends of the court as she tallied 17 points and eight rebounds on the night. Emeline Barton followed suit with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Alyssa Auer also contributed eight points while grabbing eight rebounds.
 
Alfred State jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, using strong defense and transition offense to pull ahead 24–14. Barton paced the Pioneers in the paint, while Benjamin anchored the defense with multiple blocks and steals that sparked fastbreak points. Despite a late push from Pitt-Bradford, the Pios closed the quarter on a strong note to carry a double-digit advantage. ASC maintained momentum in the second quarter, using strong defense and paint scoring to build the lead. Auer, Barton and Jenna George fueled the offense, while Benjamin sparked transition chances. The Pioneers carried a 41–26 advantage into halftime.
 
Alfred broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Panthers behind stifling defense and efficient shooting. The Pios entered the final period firmly in control, leading 62–35. They stayed in control throughout the fourth quarter, maintaining a comfortable lead behind steady scoring in the paint and solid defensive rebounding. Barton and Benjamin added key buckets, while Finley Harwood chipped in from the free-throw line.
 
Despite a late surge from Pitt-Bradford, the Pioneers closed out the game for a 70–50 victory.
 
The Pioneers will host Mount Aloysius on Saturday with a set tip off time of 1 pm!
