Rochester, NY- The Alfred State Men's Soccer Team lost their first game of the season on the road at RIT 2-0. The Pioneers fall to 3-1-3.
Alexander Preston made 6 saves between the sticks in the loss.
The Tigers put the pressure on the Pios to open the contest. RIT got on the board first in the 19
th minute from a corner kick to give them the 1-0 advantage. Alfred State was able to get 4 corner kicks and 9 free kick opportunities in the opening half but they were unable to capitalize as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half the Pioneers brought some firepower out of the break, firing off 8 shots to RIT's 7.
Alexander Preston was able to keep the Pios in the game with a few spectacular saves. Although, in the 83
rd minute, the Tigers found the dagger from a wildly deflected shot that landed in the back of the net giving the home team a 2-0 lead. Alfred State wasn't able to draw a goal back despite getting 3 corners and 9 free kicks in the second half as the match ended in a 2-0 loss.
