Geneseo, NY- The Alfred State Men's Soccer team fought back from a 1-0 deficit to tie the Geneseo Knights 1-1. The Pioneers record moves to 3-0-3.
 
ASC came out strong, battling hard with the Knights. Despite the strong start, the Pioneers fell behind from a rebound off a free kick to give the Knights the lead. Alfred State was able to keep the game close with 6 shots in the first half compared to Geneseo's 8.
 
The Pioneers didn't give up in the second half, rotating players frequently to apply pressure to the Knights back line. ASC equaled the Knights second half shot total at 8 apiece. Alfred State cashed in on a corner kick in the 88th minute with a header from Henry Leahy that fell to the foot of Andres Garces, giving the Pioneers an equalizer in the dying moments of the match. ASC had another scoring opportunity to win the game off a Brogan Cotter scissor kick in the last minute but was blocked. The game ended 1-1 in a second consecutive tie for the Pioneers.
 
Garces was able to score his first colligate goal for ASC. Henry Leahy recorded his fourth assist of the season, increasing his season point total to 12. Alexander Preston was able to make six saves in net while Marcus Tittle came in to hold down the goal for the last 25 minutes of the first half.
 
Alfred State is on the road again this Saturday, September 20^th to take on the RIT Tigers. Kickoff Scheduled for 1PM.
