Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse | | Elijah Adams

Pioneers Grab A Commanding Victory On The Road

Elmira, NY – Alfred State men's lacrosse team took a subjugating win over the Soaring Eagles 22-6 in a non-conference matchup.  After the win, Alfred moves to 6-6 on the season.

The Pioneers saw an all-around dominant performance from the team. Colby Pasiut led the way on offense tallying six goals on 13 shots. Right behind, Griffin Doan netted five goals while facilitating the offense with a staggering career high 10 assists. Doan tallied a total of 15 points. Jesse Young and Brady Nugent were forces to be reckoned with on the defensive end as they notched five and six caused turnovers respectively.

Getting into the action, Doan gave the first sign of the type of game the Pioneers were going to have after he netted the first goal of the game just two minutes in. Mike Coburn tallied the assist on the successful shot. Continuing from there, Pasiut would go on to tally a goal right after.

The Pioneers just wouldn't let up as they scored three more goals before allowing the Eagles to tally their first. Doan then closed off the first period with a made shot under a minute before the second period, 6-1.
The first few minutes of the second quarter were a bit slow for Alfred as they allowed another goal from the Eagles. However, Coburn answered back with a made shot off a pass from Luca Campanelli. Doan, Pasuit, and Young went on to put up a goal each to end the first half with a 10-3 Pios lead.

The second half was a similar story to the first. Dom Rosettie came out of the halftime break fired up and scored a goal just 12 seconds into the third quarter. That quick fire goal was his first of the season so far. After some time, Rosettie came back for some more and netted his second goal of the year, 12-4. The rest of the period was an offensive masterclass for Alfred as they saw a 19-4 lead on the scoreboard before the fourth.

At 5:38 in the fourth quarter, Ryan Snyder added to the Pioneers huge margin while also scoring his first goal of the season. The rest of the final period was one-sided as Alfred continued to maintain their huge lead. Pios took home the victory 22-6.

The Pioneers will return for their final home game to face off against the Hilbert Hawks. The game is set to begin on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4pm.
