Naples, FL- The Alfred State Softball team split their last day down in the sunshine state, bringing home a win against Lesley, 9-0.
Marissa Ordway brought home the win for the Pioneers on the mound in game two as she threw her first shutout of her career as a freshman.
At the plate,
Nicole Youngberg went 2-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Trinity Scott went 2-4 as well with an RBI.
Amy Campbell also went 1-2 with two stolen bases.
In the first inning, the Pios grabbed two runs off a Scott RBI and an unearned error by Lesley's short-stop. In the top of the third inning, ASC would go on to tally four more runs that was initiated by a Youngberg double to right center.
Abbie Millard would single to left to score
Caley Larsen. Two out of the four runs were scored unearned.
The Pios would secure the game after adding three more runs in the fourth, as Scott would single on a bunt and Youngberg would smack another double to center. Ordway would close out the game in the bottom of the fifth, 9-0.
Game one would see
Abby Beidel with great effort on the mound for ASC.
Geneva would start the game off with four immediate runs in the first and second innings to which the Pios couldn't put back. After two scoreless innings, the Pioneers put up one run in the bottom of the fourth, Youngberg doubling to right field to start it off. After she advanced to third, Larsen would ground out to short to score Youngberg, 4-1.
ASC would grab their final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth after the Golden Tornado's notched two runs. Millard started the bottom off with a single down the left field line followed by a Campbell shot up the middle. Scott would then single to center to which would fill the bases. Larsen took a walk to score Millard.
Geneva held the Pios the remainder of the game, scoring their final run in the top of the seventh, securing the game 7-2.
After this weeks spring training, the Pioneers are now 2-8 on the season as they head into conference play when they get back to NY.
