Pioneers Face Back-to-Back Losses

Naples, FL- The Alfred State Softball team suffered two losses today in day three of play against RIT and Rockford University, 8-6 and 11-3.

To start the day off, Abby Beidel saw the mound for game one. Madigan Harris went 2-2 at the plate and Abigail Marinelli also went 2-3.

RIT grabbed a run in the bottom of the second inning to put themselves on the board first. They would then tack on five more runs in the bottom of the third. At the top of the fourth, the Pios managed to tally two runs that started by a Marinelli walk, Ma. Harris advancing her with a single. Marissa Ordway would then knock Marinelli and Ma. Harris in on a double to left field. The Pioneers grabbed four more runs in the top of the sixth, tying the game. Marinelli would score on a wild pitch and with based loaded Trinity Scott would take a ball in the arm to advance everyone, scoring Ma. Harris. Two more walks advanced runners to the plate, 6-6.

Unfortunately, RIT were able to find two more runs in the bottom of the inning, closing out the game 8-6.

In game two against Rockford, Ordway would start for the Pios in the circle.

Rockford would nail down three runs in the first inning, but the Pios also tacked on one run in the bottom, 3-1. Rockford scored five runs to add to their three already in the third and fourth innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Marinelli kickstarted the inning singling to right. Liana Dion would smack a ball up the middle to advance Marinelli and Ma. Harris. Amy Campell also singled and scored Marinelli, followed by a Scott walk scoring Ma. Harris. Those were the last runs of the game for the Pios as Rockford closed out the game with three more runs, 11-3.
