Naples, FL- The Alfred State Softball team split day two of games down in Florida, losing game one to Westfield State, 11-3 and winning game two against Elms College, 14-5.

In game one,
Hailee Smith started on the mound for the Pios.
Nicole Youngberg batted 2-2 in game one, notching a double and scored one run.
Abby Beidel also went 2-3 at the plate, notching an RBI.
In the first inning, Westfield managed to grab one run. Top of the second inning, the Pios were quick to respond as Beidel rocketed a single up the middle scoring
Madigan Harris. In the bottom of the inning, the Owls were able to grab five runs, putting them up 6-1. In the third, ASC notched two more runs off a Youngberg double down the left field line and a
Abigail Marinelli single to right field. Westfield would then grab two more runs in the bottom of the inning, making the score 8-3.

The Owls were able to keep the Pios away from scoring anymore runs as they took home game ones win, 11-3.

In game two,
Marissa Ordway started on the mound and took home the win for the Pioneers. The Pios bats came to life in game two, as
Amy Campbell went 3-3 at the plate with two RBIs, three runs, and two stolen bases.
Trinity Scott went 2-2 with four RBIs,
Madigan Harris also went 2-2 with two RBIs.

Elms came out hot and immediately scored four runs in the top of the first inning. Despite the runs, the Pioneers were determined as they notched seven runs. This rally began with Campbell getting an immediate walk which trickled down the entire lineup as everyone scored on a wild pitch, 7-4. ASC grabbed one more run in the bottom of the second as
Caley Larsen put herself in scoring position after smacking a triple up the middle.

Elms managed to notch one more run until the Pios bats grabbed them six more runs. In the bottom of the third, Scott would crank an in the park home run, scoring herself and Campbell. The Pios would take a steady lead, 12-5. Bottom of the fourth, Scott would notch two more RBIs, scoring Campbell and Hurlbut.

The Pioneers held the Blazers in the top of the fifth, taking home their first win of the season.

They will take the field again on Wednesday vs RIT and Rockford University, first pitches set for 9 & 11 am.
