Erie, PA — The Alfred State Men's Basketball team dropped their road matchup at Penn State Behrend, falling 70–44. The Pioneers move to 2–8 on the season and 0–2 in AMCC play.
Darius Cunningham Jr. led Alfred State with 14 points and six rebounds, while
Mykell Lawson added 10 points and four boards.
The Lions opened the game with an early 18–10 advantage. Alfred State battled back, as a mid-range jumper from Cunningham Jr. cut the deficit to five with seven minutes remaining in the half. A three-pointer from
Eli Taft and a late layup by Cunningham Jr. helped the Pioneers trim the deficit to five at the break.
Behrend came out strong in the second half, quickly extending their lead as the Pioneers struggled to keep pace. The Lions pulled away and secured the 70–44 victory.
Alfred State looks to bounce back on Saturday, December 13th, when they travel to Pitt–Greensburg to face the Bobcats. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
