Alfred, NY – The Alfred State men's basketball team suffered a 62-38 loss against the Alfred University Saxons in the Crossbar Classic game. The loss drops the Pioneers to 0-2 on the season.
Avery Cunnigham led the way with nine points and two steals.
Mykell Lawson had five assists on the day.
Starting off the first half, Alfred was down by six early on. Cunningham kick started the offense with a layup down low, 6-2. After some time, the Saxons were able to extend their lead.
JJ Howard scored inside to cut the deficit, 22-11.
The Pioneers fought hard to cut into the deficit behind the efforts of Darius Cunnigham Jr, A. Cunningham, and Taft, in the second half. However, they were unable to hold off the Saxons as they fell 62-38.
Alfred will remain home next for their matchup against SUNY Cobleskill. Tip off is set for Tuesday, November 11
th at 7pm.
