Pittsburgh, PA – The Alfred State men's soccer team saw its season come to a heartbreaking end in double overtime, falling 1-0 to the #2 seed La Roche Redhawks in the AMCC Tournament. The Pioneers conclude the 2025 campaign with an overall record of 9-3-6.
Goalkeeper
Marcus Tittle kept Alfred State in the match with an outstanding performance, making seven saves on eight shots on goal.
Henry Leahy and
Eric Spring registered the Pioneers' three shots on target.
Both teams came out strong in the first half, with Alfred State creating dangerous chances off set pieces while La Roche threatened on the counterattack. The Redhawks held a slight 4-2 edge in shots on goal, but the score remained deadlocked 0-0 heading into halftime.
The intensity ramped up in the second half as both sides battled for control, each being shown two yellow cards. Tittle came up big with three key saves to preserve the shutout through regulation, sending the game to overtime.
In the second overtime period, La Roche finally broke through. After Tittle made an initial save, the Redhawks capitalized on the rebound to score the game-winner and advance with a 1-0 victory.
Henry Leahy led Alfred State this season with 35 points, including 14 goals and seven assists.
Ryan Masi followed with six goals and one assist, while
Jack Emo and
Jack Farner each tallied four goals and one assist. In goal,
Alexander Preston finished the year with a 1.23 GAA, 49 saves, and a 6-3-6 record.
