Alfred State Put on a Show in Dominant 5-0 Victory Over SUNY Cobleskill

The Pioneer defense was equally impressive, allowing little room to operate and preserving the shutout with a disciplined effort across the back line. Lewandusky led the offensive explosion with two goals, while Masi recorded a goal and an assist in a standout performance. Salisbury and Braunscheidel each added goals as Alfred State showcased its depth and attacking firepower.
Alfred State struck early and never looked back. Aaron Salisbury opened the scoring just over five minutes into the match, finishing off a setup from Ryan Masi to give the Pioneers a 1-0 advantage. The early goal set the tone for what would become a long afternoon for the visitors.
The Pioneers continued to apply pressure throughout the first half, generating quality scoring opportunities while limiting Cobleskill's attack. Although Alfred State held just a one-goal lead at halftime, the match felt firmly under control as the Pioneers consistently pushed play into the attacking third.
That control turned into goals in the second half.
Ryan Masi doubled the lead in the 64th minute, capping off an outstanding performance after already recording an assist earlier in the contest. With momentum fully on their side, the Pioneers put the game out of reach late.
Josh Lewandusky took over during a decisive stretch, scoring twice in just over two minutes. His first tally came off an assist from Jackson Piacitelli before he struck again shortly afterward, this time finishing a feed from Alexander Preston.
Not content with four goals, Alfred State added one final exclamation point in the closing minutes when Evan Braunscheidel found the back of the net off a pass from Nico Avila to make it 5-0.
Head coach Vince Correa was thrilled to see his team rewarded for the work it has put in throughout the season.
"You know, it's exciting because the guys have played well enough to win a few other games this year, and it's nice on senior day to be able to send them off on a high note and get some goals in the back of the net, and then also keep a shutout on our end. So really proud of these guys and proud of the work they put in all year."
Correa also credited the group's talent and resilience, especially after battling injuries throughout the campaign.
"Well, I feel like we have very, very good talent on our team. I feel like we're very young, and unfortunately we've hit the injury bug, and we've had some very important players out. I just feel like today it all kind of came together, and the guys were able to keep the ball well and get the ball in some hot zones and punch the ball in the back of the net, which is most important."
From start to finish, the Pioneers controlled the match, combining a relentless attack with a disciplined defensive effort to earn an emphatic 5-0 Senior Day victory.
The Pioneers will be back in action next week at home at 4 pm on October 21st against Oswego State.
