Alfred, NY- The 3
rd seeded Alfred State men's soccer team notched a home victory against the 6
th seeded Panthers 4-1. After the win, the Pioneers advance to the AMCC semifinals.
Jack Emo and
Henry Leahy put together an outstanding showing for Alfred as they both delivered a brace. On the other side of the ball,
Marcus Tittle held strong in the goal, only allowing one made shot while turning away three total.
The Pioneers took a while to settle into their offense as their first score came late in the 34
th minute of the first half.
Henry Leahy poked the ball past the goalie off a pass from
Alexander Romero for a 1-0 advantage that continued into halftime.
In the second half, Leahy's momentum continued as he found his way to a second goal off a pass from
Andres Garces to extend the lead. After some time, Alfred created another look with
Brogan Cotter placing a ball to Emo for his first goal of the game. Despite the Panthers answering back shortly after, the Pioneers scored the dagger in the 88
th minute. Emo snuck one past the goalie with three defenders surrounding him to close out the game 4-1.
The Pioneers will hit the road next, heading to La Roche to face off against the 2
nd seeded RedHawks in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for Wednesday, November 5
th at 2pm.
