Moshenek Takes First At The Williams Open

Williamstown, MA- The Alfred State men's wrestling team had three finishes in the top four of their respective brackets, with Elijah Moshenek winning the 133 bracket.

Moshenek opened the 2025 portion of the season with a 17-2 tech fall win over Kevin Sevigny (Springfield). He followed with a first period fall in two minutes over Devin Morrissette (Springfield Technical Community College). Moshenek followed with a 7-2 decision win in the simi-finals against John Schneider of Williams College, to advance to the first-place match. In the first-place match, Moshenek picked up a 5-1 over Botensky Bauzile (Hunter College) to take the 133-bracket title.

In the 197 bracket, Aaron Johnson took home third place. After a first-round bye, Johnson suffered a double overtime loss before picking up three straight fall wins. The first was a two-minute fall over Cam McGarr (Unattached), followed by a four-minute fall over Cam McGarr (Unattached), and 1:07 fall over Matthew Donis (Western New England) to advance to the third-place match. Then in the final match of the day, Johnson took done Matthew Donis (Western New England) in a 9-7 decision.

In the 157 bracket, Owen Cummings placed fourth. Cummings opened with a 13-2 major decision over Nick Antonucci (Plymouth State), followed by a 1:46 fall over Ethan Tanner (Norwich). After suffering a lose, he tallied a four minute fall over Martin Palomeque (hunter College) to advance to the third-place match. Cumming would suffer a loss in that match to take fourth place.
