Pittsburgh, PA- Alfred State men's basketball team took a loss to the La Roche Redhawks 74-64. After the loss, the Pioneers fell to 3-15 on the season.

Michael Miller led the way for the Pioneers with 24 points and eight rebounds. Dylan Perry followed up with 13 points and got involved on the defense end with four steals. Darius Cunningham came in big on the boards with eight rebounds.

The Pioneers started the first few possessions of the game strong as they grabbed an early lead 9-2 just three minutes into the action. Miller made two consecutive lays into the hoop along with a three pointer for a hot start. Perry made two short distance buckets to add on.  After some more back and forth, Jacob Gonzalez scored off a successful drive to the hoop to bring the Pios their lead back over the Redhawks 31-29 with 1:02 remaining. Alfred ended the half with a three-point lead 36-33.

In the second half, the Pioneers were looking to find the momentum offensively that they had in the beginning of the first half. Miller found a shot from behind the arc which was followed up by two Masom Putnam drives. The contributions from both men tied the score 41-41 with 17 minutes left to go.

Both teams continued to battle throughout the quarter. However, the Pioneers began trailing and were unable to shorten the deficit as they fell 74-64.

Pios will head to Hamburg, NY next to face the Hilbert Hawks. Tip off begins on Wednesday, January 29 at 5pm.
