Oneonta, NY- Alfred State Volleyball splits as they swept SUNY Oneonta 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-23), after falling to Hartwick 3-1 (19-25, 23-25, 25-14, 25-18).

In game two, Racquel Gerstenberger tallied a double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs, while Alayna Tomlinson notched a 11 kill, 14 dig double-double. Nayomie Ferrer ended the day with 27 assists.

The Pioneers started strong in the first set going on a 5-1 run. From there, the Pioneers held onto the lead to take the set 25-23. ASC would carry the momentum into the next two set to get the sweep and in the weekend on a high note.

In the match against Hartwick, Erin Gregoire led the Pioneers offense with 13 kills, while adding two blocks. Racquel Gerstenberger added nine kills, 19 digs, and seven aces. Nayomie Ferrer tallied 32 assists, while Ava Wickes came away with 18 digs.

After dropping the first two sets, Pioneers answered by taking set three. In set three, Gabriella Thurmond sparked a Pioneer run with back-to-back kills to take a 13-11 lead. The 12-3 run saw ASC take the set 25-14.

The Hawks rebounded in set four to take the win.

After opening the season with four straight road trips the Pioneers will be home next Sunday Sept 29 for a tri-match against SUNY Delhi and Lycoming.
