Canton, NY- Gabriella Thurmond tallies 41 assists in four sets as Alfred State Volleyball fell to SUNY Canton 3-1 (21-25, 25-9, 19-25, 24-26). The Pioneers are now 4-3 on the season, determined to rally back this weekend.

Thurmond led the match with an outstanding 41 assists and 11 digs.
Alayna Tomlinson also had 16 kills,
Racquel Gerstenberger following suit with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Ava Wickes also tallied 12 digs on the day.Â

The Roos took control of the match by taking the first set, but the Pioneers came back and answered in the second set. ASC opened the second set with a 7-0 lead, led by Gerstenberger, Tomlinson and
Caitlyn Gilman kills. To continue that run,
Erin Gregoire and
Ava Wickes were able to nail kills as well. Canton struggled to battle back as ASC continued to dominate the set, winning 25-9. The Roos would then rally and take the next two sets to win the match.Â

The Pios are back on the court tomorrow to face SUNY Potsdam at noon and Vermont State University Johnson at 2pm.
