Pioneers Fall Short On The Road

Erie, PA – The Alfred State Women's Basketball team came up short on the road against the Penn State-Behrend Lions, falling 81-57. The Pioneers fell to 5-19 overall and 4-13 in AMCC play.

 

The Pioneer scoring was led by Sarah Somers who had 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Taylor Searle scored 14 points and Taylor Benjamin added eight points and ten rebounds.

 

The Pioneers opened the scoring on their first possession when Searle made a two-point jump shot to give them an early lead. The Lions went on a 10-0 run after that to build up a lead of their own. The Pioneers trailed the Lions 22-10 after the first quarter. Benjamin made a three pointer right before the half time buzzer to make the score 44-26.

 

Jenna George made a layup midway through the third quarter to cap off a 7-0 run for the Pioneers and cut the deficit to 18 points. The Lions would run out the clock the rest of the way to capture the victory.
