Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's basketball team dropped their conference opener against Hilbert, 94-45. The Pioneers fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.

The Pioneers were led by Michael Miller, who tallied 15 points on 3-7 shooting from downtown. Mason Putnam added 10 points, while Jacob Gonzalez chipped in nine points as well.

The Hawks came out strong opening with a 10-2 run. From there Hilbert continued their run while holding the Pioneers offensive at bay as they went on to win.

The Pioneers will be back in action Saturday for a conference game against La Roche at 2 pm.
