Bradford, PA- The Alfred State Women's Volleyball team took home another win on the road tonight against the Panthers, 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-19). The Pioneers are now 18-6 as the regular season ends this weekend.
Alayna Tomlinson led the Pioneers in kills with a solid nine on the night, 10 digs and two blocks. Erin Gregoire and Caitlyn Gilman both tallied seven kills on the night.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first set. On that run Gregoire and Tomlinson had three kills each. After a Pitt-Brad timeout, the Panthers went on a run of their own to get back in the set, 18-12. The Pioneers would go on to win the set following a Gilman kill for set point and a Racquel Gerstenberger ace to win the set 25-15.
ASC carried that momentum into the second set, as Gerstenberger opened with two kills along with a Gilman kill and block for the 6-2 lead. Following a Bradford timeout, the Pios tallied three points off to increase the lead. Later in the set, the Pioneers would go on another 11-2 run to take the second set.
The third set started with a hard kill by Gabriella Thurmond. The Pioneers then went on a eight-point rally to take the lead 9-0. ASC kept their momentum throughout the set as the Panthers tried to make a comeback. The set was concluded after a Pio timeout that led to a Gerstenberger kill, 25-19.
The Pioneers are back on the road to face Mount Aloysius in their last regular season game this Saturday at 11 am.
