Beverly, MA- The Alfred State football team season comes to a close in the NCAA Football Championship, after a loss to Endicott 44-0. The Pioneers close the year with a 5-6 overall record and a 2-1 conference record.
Justin Horvath went 16-35 for 97 yards, while Chase Shepanski led the rushing attack with 57 yards on 10 attempts. Josh Graham had 38 yards on the ground in ten attempts. He also tallied 43 yards on four receptions with a long of 17 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Silas Egenlauf led the way with 14 total tackles and two tackles for a loss. David Harrell tallied 10 tackles and three pass breakups.
The Pioneers had the possession advantage in the first quarter holding onto the ball for 10 of the 15 minutes but could not take advantage as the Gulls held them scoreless. Endicott was able to take a 3-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Gulls were able to extend their lead in the second quarter with two touchdowns for the 16-0 going into halftime. The Gulls continued the shutout in the second half as they put up 28 points to get the win.
The Pioneers end the year as back-to-back ECFC champions as they will enter the Empire 8 next season.
