Killingworth, CT- The Alfred State football program tallied 15 All-Conference honors, along with Head Coach Scott Linn earning Coach of the Year and Silas Egenlauf taking home Defender of the Year.
Scott Linn was voted ECFC Coach of the Year, as he led the Pioneers to their second straight ECFC title, after winning the championship game over Anna Maria last weekend, 39-37. The Pioneers finished with a 2-1 record in regular season conference play and a 5-5 overall record. Alfred State will represent the ECFC in the NCAA postseason this year, taking on Endicott College in the first round.
Senior linebacker Silas Egenlauf was tabbed Defensive Player of the Year after his standout senior campaign. Egenlauf topped the league in several categories, including solo tackles (62), total tackles (112), and tackles per game (11.2). He also ranked second in TFL (13) and tied for third in TFL yards (41). Egenlauf hit double-digit tackles in six of the Pioneers' nine games, including 16 tackles against MIT. The senior LB also added two forced fumbles, two interceptions including one returned for a touchdown, and three pass breakups to finish the regular season.
Of the 15 All-Conference honorees, The Pioneers saw 10 earn First-Team honors. The 10 first teamers were: Noah Currier (Sophomore RB), Frank Tomaro (Sophomore TE), Sean Carey (Senior OL), Eagan Enke (Senior OL), Josh Borowicz (Senior DL), Conner McWilliams (Junior DL), Connor Gorr (Senior DL), Silas Egenlauf (Senior LB), Chris Bergman (Sophomore DB), and Richard Brice II (Sophomore P).
Then taking home Second-Team honors were: Justin Horvath (Junior QB), Evan Bowen (Freshman WR), Clayton Hughes (Senior OL), Colin Hebbard (Senior LB), and David Harrell (Senior LB).
The Pioneers will take the field this Saturday Nov 23rd as the take on Endicott in Beverly, MA at 12 pm.
