Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's soccer team extended their win streak to five in a dominate win over Carlow, 9-1 on senior night. The Pioneers move to 11-3 on the year, and 5-0 in the conference.
The Pios got on the board first with a Henry Leahy goal in the 8th minute. Later in the first half, ASC scored four goals within the eight minutes of the half. Travis Scandalis netted a goal from a Nuri Sarbudak pass. Sarbudak would then net a goal of his own off a Ryan Masi pass for the 3-0 lead. Masi would help add to the lead in the 44th minute after finding Chuck Domm in the box for a goal. Scandalis would give the Pioneers the 5-0 lead heading into half, after scoring a goal right before time expires.
In the second half, TJ Brackett added to the lead with a goal off a Farhan Abdi pass, to make it a 6-0 game. In the 78th minute, Abdi found Kyle Cunningham in the box for a goal. Later in the 80th minute, Eric Spring found the back of the net off of a Moses Roloson pass. Carlow answered with a goal of their own to cut into the Pios lead. Then in the 88th minute, Roloson extended the lead 9-1 to with a goal off a Brogan Cotter pass.
The Pioneers held off the Celtics attack to get the win.
The Pioneers will be on the road this Tuesday for a match against Penn State Behrend at 7 pm.
