Alfred, NY- Alfred State Men's Wrestling took down Williams College 34-15 in their home opener. The Pioneers are 9-3 in duals this season.
The day started with a 197 match; Blake Ilges opened the dual with a first period fall over David LaPrade in 1:27 to take a 6-0 lead. Nick Barrett followed with a 13-4 major decision win over Thomas Goodwin. Barrett tallied four takedowns along with a riding time point in the win.
Mason Drew got a win by forfeit in the 125 match, before Zach Levey notched a first period fall over Enzo Bell in 1:46 to take a 22-0 match lead. In the 141 bout, Dominick Vinci only needed 2:49 to take the fall win over Tylor Stubbs.
Williams College was able to take the 149, 157, 165, and 174 matches to cut the lead down to 28-16. Williams was deducted a team point for an unsportsmanlike conduct on the coach. In the final bout of the dual, Sean Malenfant tallied a 1:16 fall victory over Dante Gutbrod.
In the extra matches, Chris Bargy notched a 29 second fall over Cullen Davis, while Jacob Steele notched a 58 second fall over Tim Brown. Blake Ilges also clinched a 20-2 tech fall victory in 2:47 over Elias Chen.
