Box Score The Alfred State Men's Soccer team defeated Valley Forge 2-1 in their 2022 season opener.
The Pioneers started the 1st half strong with Nuri Sarbudak (Pittsford, NY) scoring. Will Bowen (Pittsford, NY) and Andres Mateos (Batavia, NY) were credited with assists. Valley Forge tied it up in the 23rd minute off a free kick. The score was 1-1 headed into halftime.
Mateos gave the Pioneers the lead again in the 2nd half, placing a perfect ball in the net in the 66th minute. The defense led by goalkeeper Thaddeus Grierson (Perry, NY), who had four saves, held strong for the remainder of the contest to secure the win.
The team is back in action tomorrow, Sunday, September 4th at 4:00pm at Rosemont.
