The Alfred State Women's volleyball team started their season today. Cazenovia College was the host to a match between the Pioneers and Union College.

Racquel Gerstenberger led the way for Alfred State, with ten kills in the match. Along with Racquel, Alexa Perez recorded a team high 17 assists.

The Pioneers played three tight sets, keeping within 3 points throughout the first set, they eventually fell 119-25. Alfred State lost the second set, and the last was dropped 23-25.

Following the loss, Alfred State will look to come back tomorrow as they are in action twice. Opening the day against Elmira for a 1:00 p.m. match, followed by MCLA, set for 5:00p.m.
