The Alfred State Men's Soccer team lost tonight's match 1-0 to conference rival Penn.- State Behrend. 

The defense of Alfred State was on display all night for the Pioneers. Josh Price (Greece, N.Y. / Greece Arcadia) continued his ball-winning play, coming up with multiple crucial tackles for Alfred State. Goalkeeper Thaddeus Grierson (Perry, N.Y. / Perry Central) had six saves in the match, which is the most he's tallied in a conference match this year. 

The Pioneer defense did not allow any goals in the first half. Although they faced eight Behrend shots, the constant effort from Andres Mateos (Batavia, N.Y. / Batavia) and the rest of the Pioneer defense kept Penn.- State from having any real scoring chances.

The lone goal of the match came in the 52 minute from Sean Abraham of Penn.- State Behrend. It was his second goal of the season. 

Gavin Rice (Greece, N.Y. / Greece Athena) was the shot leader for the Pioneers, he tallied two shots, putting one towards the net. 

Alfred State is back in action on October 15, at Pioneer Stadium against Mt. Aloysius.
