Alfred State outshot Elmira 17 to 6 but the Eagles took advantage of their shots and earned a 3-0 victory in the 2021 season opener for both teams.

Moustapha Camara opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he took advantage of a Pioneer turnover and put it in the back of the net. The Pioneers held a 10 to 3 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes. Giovanni Garufi made three saves.

Samer Slim netted an insurance goal in the 69th minute after getting a header from Tony Valencia. Elmira added another goal in the final minutes when Aiden Cole scored after getting a pass from David Rojas. Alfred State held a 7 to 3 shot advantage with Garufi making two saves to earn the shutout.

The Pioneers are back in action again on Saturday when they take on St. Vincent at 1:30 p.m.
