The Alfred State men's cross country team finished 38th out of 61 teams that competed at the NCAA Mideast Regionals held at Lehigh University on Saturday. A total of 360 runners finished in the 8k race.
Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) capped his freshman season with a 172nd place finish to lead the Pioneers. He crossed the finish line in 27:53.5. Matt Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 219th (28:45.4), Cooper Buckley (Wellsville) was 264th (29:53.2), Conrad Kroll (Westtown/Minisink Valley) was 273rd (30:24.1), and Austin Miller (Hornell) was 285th (30:56.0).
Carnegie Mellon took home the team title with a score of 55.
Alfred State was competing at the NCAA Regional level for the second straight season.
