Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) led the way for the Alfred State men's cross country team as they competed at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo. 308 athletes competed in the 8k course at Letchworth State Park.

Rutledge finished 110th overall with a time of 28:16.5. Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) was 161st (29:13.9), Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) was 192nd (29:51.2), Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) was 193rd (29:53.6), and Joe Kretschmar (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) rounded out the top five with a 218th place finish (30:36.6).

Geneseo took home the team title with a score of 32 followed by Laurentian (69) and Rowan (77). The Pioneers finished 19th out of the 23 teams that scored with a mark of 557. They finished ahead of D'Youville, Alfred University, Lycoming, and Hilbert.

The blue & gold will run next Saturday at the Alumni Meet. The meet is part of Homecoming 2018 and will start at 11 a.m.
