The Alfred State men's cross country team passed its final tune up prior to the ACAA Championships next week. The Pioneers finished 2nd out of three teams in a 5k held at Alfred State.
Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) led the men with a 8th place finish. He averaged 5:37 per mile and crossed the finish line in 17:28. Austin Demberg (Westtown/Minisink Valley) finished 12th (17:42), Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) was 15th (17:58), Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post) was 16th (18:06), and Matt Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame) rounded out the top five with a 17th place finish (18:07).
RIT took home the team title with a perfect score of 15 followed by Alfred State (53) and Alfred University (75).
The Pioneers will head to SUNY Delhi to compete in the ACAA Championships next Saturday (10/27). The blue and gold finished 2nd in the ACAA Championships last year.
