The Alfred State volleyball team completed play at Morrisville as they opened up the 2017 season. The Lady Pioneers were defeated 3-0 in matches vs. Keystone and MIT.

Keystone collected 17 aces as they defeated the Pioneers 25-11, 25-10, 25-17. Erin Congdon passed out 10 assists while Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) and Valerie Intini (Rochester/Eastridge) both had four kills

The Giants were led by Amanda Hardy's 12 kills and Pamela Heitman's 13 digs. Malley Bowen passed out 31 assists.

MIT started off fast and never looked back in a 25-5, 25-11, 25-14 victory. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) led the blue & gold with three kills and added seven digs while Madison Webster (Corning) finished with 13 digs.

Alexis Groark recorded 11 kills, Christina Liao had 21 assists, and Clare Farley had nine digs for MIT. Madison Lee collected six of the Engineers 14 service aces.

The Pioneers head to Elmira next weekend for three matches. They battle Cazenovia (6 p.m. on Friday), Elmira (10 a.m. on Saturday), and Delhi (Noon on Saturday).
