Big 2nd Half Lifts Men's Soccer

The Alfred State men's soccer team scored four 2nd half goals as they defeated D'Youville 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in Buffalo. Brandon Holley (Livonia) and Markus Ernest (Alfred Almond) scored a pair of goals in the victory.

Both teams found the back of the net in the 1st half. Brandon Holley (Livonia) scored in the 4th minute after getting a through ball from Tyler Landries (Genesee Valley). Hunter Sherman tied it in the 21st minute for D'Youville.

Landries gave the Pioneers the lead back 8:23 into the 2nd half when he scored on a shot to the bottom left corner of the net. Rehte Ru tied it back up just 22 seconds later.

Ernest gave the Pioneers the lead for good in the 69th minute when he scored after getting a short pass from Landries. Holley added to the lead just over two minutes later after getting a pass from Noah Holmok (Alfred Almond). Ernest added an insurance goal in the 88th minute after getting a pass from Albert Senyah Breezy (Central Islip).

The blue and gold (2-3) outshot the Spartans (0-7) 16 to 11 in the contest. Jacob Bartz (West Seneca) made two saves to earn the victory in net.

The Pioneers open up the home portion of their season on Tuesday when they host Buffalo State at 7 p.m.
