The Alfred State women's team doubled up Wells College 2-1 as they improved to 2-1 on the young season. The Lady Pioneers used two 1st half goals to earn the victory.

Haley Russell (Keshequa) got the Lady Pioneers on the board 27:39 into the contest when she took a long pass from Keri Teufel (Sachem East) and was able to slip a shot past the goalie for her second goal of the season.

Nine minutes later Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) netted her first goal to give the blue & gold a two-goal advantage. Salatel controlled a loose ball and fired it past the keeper.

Wells scored the lone goal of the 2nd half when Heather Hiltbrand put a free kick into the back of the net. The Express kept the pressure on but could not tie the game up.

Wells held a slight 11-10 shot advantage in the contest. Allison Danielak (Brockport) made seven saves in net to earn the victory while Quinn Doubet made six for the Express.

Alfred State is back in action next Saturday when they begin a two-day roadtrip with a Noon contest at SUNY Canton.
