Houghton College shutout Alfred State 3-0 on Thursday evening. The Highlanders improve to 8-5-2 on the year while the Lady Pioneers are now 7-7-1.

Bailey Shattell scored in the 8th minute to get Houghton on the board after getting a pass from Jessica McDowell. She added a second goal in the 60th minute after getting a pass from Delaney Connolly.

Abby Schmidt added an insurance goal in the 84th minute. Jenny Zacchigna and Shattell got the assists.

Houghton held a 17 to 4 shot advantage in the game. Shawna Sprout made two saves in just over 87 minutes to earn the win. Morgan Schreiner (Spencerport) made 12 saves for Alfred State.

The Lady Pioneers play their final regular season game on Saturday when they host Cazenovia at 1 p.m.
