Briana Meehan (Whitesville) connected on seven three-pointers as the Alfred State women's basketball team defeated SUNY Delhi 72-46. The Lady Pioneers even up their record at 1-1 on the young season.

Meehan finished the evening with 23 points and shared game-high honors with teammate Haley Witchella (Oxford). The two combined to match Delhi's total for the game. Jennifer Fedrick (Buffalo/Bennett) chipped in six.

The Pioneers led by just five at the half, 29-24, but used stingy defense to expand their lead.

Alfred State heads to SUNY Canton for the Kevin Fee/Roos Classic. They open up the tournament with a 5 p.m. contest vs. SUNY Potsdam on Saturday evening.
