Ryder Slayton has been added to the Alfred State Wrestling staff this year as a Volunteer Assistant Wrestling Coach. Slayton returns to the area after a stellar four-year wrestling career at Messiah University in Pennsylvania.
Slayton was a decorated wrestler for the Falcons during his career that saw him have his hand raised in victory 148 times, good for 6th all-time in their program history that dates back to the 1972 season. Slayton twice qualified to compete at the NCAA DIII National Championships at 184 lbs, was a 3X NCAA All-Region wrestler, a 4X All-Conference wrestler including taking home Conference Champion honors in 2025 and was a 3X place winner at the nationally acclaimed Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational including a Runner-Up finish in 2025. Off the mats Ryder was a 2X NWCA Scholar All-American honoree and 2X MAC Academic Honor Roll wrestler.
Slayton earned his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and is working full time as a Process Engineer for Alstom in Hornell. Ryder and his wife Jenna reside in Hornell.
