Schenectady, NY – Alfred State bounced back from an afternoon loss to undefeated Union College with a dominant straight-set victory over SUNY Oneonta, earning a split on Saturday and improving to 6-3 on the season.
Game 2: 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-19)
The Pioneers delivered a balanced performance in the day's finale, sweeping Oneonta in straight sets. Alfred State claimed the opening set 25-20 before turning in its strongest offensive effort of the match in the second, recording 17 kills and a .306 hitting percentage in a 25-19 victory. Alfred State maintained control in the third set, securing another 25-19 win to complete the sweep.
The Pioneers finished with advantages across the board, recording 42 kills to Oneonta's 24 while hitting .240 as a team. Alfred State also led in service aces (12-6), blocks (6-2), assists (39-23), and digs (43-37).
Alayna Tomlinson paced the offense with 14 kills and 11 digs for a double-double, while
Gloria Stem contributed 13 kills and three service aces.
Rebecca Jackson added six kills, and
Isabel Carew directed the attack with 32 assists.
Caley Larsen led the team with four aces, while
Brianny Rodriguez registered four blocks.
Ava Wickes chipped in 10 digs, three assists, and two aces.

Earlier in the day, Alfred State faced undefeated Union College and battled throughout the match before falling in straight sets.
Gloria Stem led the Pioneers with eight kills, 10 digs, and two aces.
Alayna Tomlinson added six kills and six digs, while
Rebecca Jackson recorded five kills.
Isabel Carew handed out 23 assists and posted two blocks, while
Ava Wickes contributed three aces and 10 digs.
Brianny Rodriguez added two blocks and
Erin Gregoire finished with one.
Alfred State will stay on the road, returning to action Wednesday, September 16
th when The Pioneers take on Keuka College with first serve scheduled for 6pm.
